  • Cannes Film Festival Honours Kamal Hassan

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is the largest and oldest apex business chamber in India and it has been cheerleading and supporting the cause of the Indian media and entertainment industry for over a decade. FICCI was responsible for the government according ‘industry’ status to our films, in 2002.

FICCI is coordinating on behalf of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Government of India), for the India Pavilion (112 Village International Riviera) at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, May 2014.

Kamal Haasan who is the Chairman, FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee – South will lead the official Indian delegation to Cannes and inaugurate the pavilion along with many luminaries.

A very happy Kamal says, "Indian films – including South Indian ones – have been selected and honoured at the Cannes Film Festival for many years now – I am happy to be part of the official Indian delegation, which will allow me the chance to speak to the world film community about the Indian film industry today. As Chairman of the FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee – South, I am delighted to have this opportunity to also speak about the development of the Southern industry, which has been a special focus of mine for the last five years."
