  • Superstar Rajinikanth and Vijay to miss Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony

Bowing down to the demands of pro-Tamil groups, Rajinikanth and Vijay, who were invited to the Narendra Modi's swearing in ceremony at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi, has reportedly decided to skip the event.

Tamil groups had urged the actors to boycott the function after BJP sent its invitation to Srilankan's President Rajapaksha.

Tamil groups have expressed their anger for inviting Rajapaksha for the swearing in ceremony in connection with the alleged mass murders of innocent Tamils in the island nation in 2009. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has already boycotted the event and the major leaders are skipping the occasion.

Rajinikanth is a good friend of Narendra Modi and the the BJP's designated Prime Minister had personally invited the Tamil superstar. Illayathalapathy Vijay had met Modi during one of his campaigns in Tamil Nadu. This made the politician extend his invitation for the Velayudham actor.

Sources say that both Rajinikanth and Vijay wanted to attend the Narendra Modi's swearing in ceremony. But now, they have decided to boycott citing that it hurts the sentiment of Tamils in the state.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is busy with his next venture Lingaa directed by KS Ravikumar and Vijay is busy with AR Murugadoss directorial Kaththi.
