  • Suraj Venjaramoodu Just A Comedy Actor For Kerala Film Jury

The National Award winner for Best Actor, Suraj Venjaramoodu, who was in the last race for Best Actor for the Kerala State Film Awards, finally landed up in getting the award for Best Comedian! The actor, who had all hopes in winning the award till the last moment, accepted the comedian award with a sportsman spirit.

Suraj, who won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the movie Perariyathavar, is said to have been included in the list of Best Actor category, after him winning the biggest award. Now, the idea of including Suraj and his movie in the last minute by the jury was to avoid a clash of opinion. Unfortunately, the media throw light into this issue very seriously thus, making the actor the talk of the town.

Suraj said that he was very happy to get the award for Best Comedian too. "Each jury will have a different perspective while choosing the best actors. I am happy that I got the best comedy actor award in the state level," said Suraj Venjaramoodu. But, the director of the film Perariyathavar, DR Biju, lashed out at the jury saying that the jury members are comedians.

It was indeed a surprise for all as Perariyathavar got the best environmental film award at the national level but there was not even a mention of the film by the state jury."The state government supports only commercial films. I don't think that my film is viewed by the jury," commented Dr Biju.

A total of 85 movies competed at the Kerala State Film Awards for the 36 awards given by the State Govenrment.
