  • The making of Kochadaiiyaan's 'Idhayam...' and 'Manamaganin Sathiyam...'

The big event, audio launch of Kochadaiiyaan happened yesterday, the 9th of March 2014. And, rave reviews are pouring in for AR Rahman’s score and the singers. Chinmayi Sripaada and Haricharan Seshadri shared some interesting facts about their respective songs on their twitter page.

Chinmayi’s song ‘Idhayam...’ was the pick of the album, in terms of sheer performance, while the other songs had their own attractions. About working on the song, Chinmayi tweeted, “Rahman sir gave me the brief of a train slowly chugging out for Idhayam nazhuvi nazhuvi nagarndhu.. When pogudhe it was to be angsty.”

Apparently, in the first session of recording, Rahman sir had sat on the floor besides her, and played on the harmonium. She described that experience as sheer magic. On whole, she said, “Idhayam was a lesson in simplicity. Sit on floor, hold mic on hand, sing, look up, take instructions from sir, sing :)”

Haricharan tweeted that ‘Manamaganin Sathiyam...’ was his first official recording for AR Rahman, much before the duo’s songs in Maryan and Kadal. And, he said that the song was based on the Dwijavanthi rag.

This chemistry between the singers and the musician is what translates to the final album!
