  • Maan Karate team meets the press over audio success

Maan Karate audio was launched a few days back and the music has earned good words from many. Therefore to acknowledge the support and also as a note of thanksgiving, the team consisting of producer Madhan, director Thirukumaran, hero Siva Karthikeyan, music composer Anirudh and cinematographer Sukumar met the press last night (20th March) at Hotel Green Park Chennai.

Cinematographer Sukumar said that he enjoyed working in the film. After having worked in films like Mynaa, Kumki and Nimirndhu Nil, Maan Karate was a different experience and he stated that all the team members competed in good spirit to turn out the film into the best. He added, “It was good to work with Siva Karthikeyan and Hansika. I am amazed at Siva’s memory power and dialogue delivery. In one scene, I clapped my hands totally forgetting myself.” On director Thirukumaran, the cinematographer said that he had given him immense freedom which was a great support. He also appreciated art director and the producer.

Music director Anirudh also echoed the same sentiments and thanked his crew and the audience for their encouragement and support. He said, “I was not satisfied with the master and hence wanted some more time. The producer understood and gave me time to bring out what I liked”. About his meeting with director Thirukumaran before starting the project Anirudh quipped that the director wanted five songs and said that each song should stand out as an album and also different in variety.

About the post-production work in the film Anirudh explained, “Re-recording is going on now. The visuals have enhanced the music. I am sure the film would be liked by everyone”.

When hero Siva Karthikeyan spoke, he mentioned, “We all wanted to meet the press as a team and that’s why this meet. I thank one and all for the amazing response to the audio which is actually the first address of a film. We are glad that it has come out well”.

Director Thirukumaran shared his feeling that he wanted to talk only after Maan Karate is declared a hit. He added that he was lucky to get a producer who is willing to spend like a father and hence it is his turn to return that favor by giving a hit film.

On the meaning of the unique title, Thirukumaran said, “In places of minor scuffle on the road side, there would always be a character that would pretend he is a great fighter but would slowly disappear from the scene. Such people are called Maan Karate in local slang. This trait will suit my hero. That’s why I named the film as Maan Karate”. He also gave additional information that Maan Karate is the code word used by the local gangsters indicating to escape from the scene.

Responding to a question on liquor scenes in his film, Siva Karthikeyan said, “I don’t smoke or drink in my real life and if there is such a scene in the film, at this point in my career, I cannot interfere and control. However I wish to state that in my next film Taanaa, I play a character that would not drink or smoke and is totally a neat one”.

Producer Madhan also thanked everyone for their support and assured that the film would appeal to everyone.
