  • A.R.Murugadoss' Thuppakki reboot opens big

The Bollywood remake of Thuppakki directed by A.R.Murugadoss himself, Holiday released on 6th June and was met with mixed reviews.

While some really liked the movie and found it to be exciting and thrilling, the others termed it over-the-top and dumb.

Nevertheless the response at the ticket windows all over the country has been good. Holiday had a wide release in India in about 3500 screens and the opening weekend net collections have crossed 40 crores, which is a solid figure.

The film has to sustain well on the weekdays starting today if it has to recover its huge investment. But, the early signs are encouraging and Holiday has only a small film, Fugly, to handle in the coming week.

Holiday's opening weekend break up is as follows

    1st day - 12.18 crores net
    2nd day - 12.34 crores net
    3rd day - 16.80 crores net

    Total - 41.32 crores net

Kudos to A.R.Murugadoss for a rocking comeback to Bollywood, after his Ghajini in 2008.
